Article VI Executive Board
Section 2 Duties and Powers of the Board
(I) Officer Attendance at General Meetings
All officers who are receiving a stipend are expected to attend General Meetings. If an Officer has three (3) unexcused absences from General Meetings during their term of office they may be removed from office for the remainder of the term by vote of the Executive Board. Reasons for excused absence from General Meetings include: regular duty (staffing unable to fill Union Business request for meeting attendance time due to staffing needs), incident deployment, force hired (FMS) by Staffing, hospitalization of the member, annual leave, and military leave. Remote attendance at meetings as allowed by our Constitution and Bylaws shall be counted as attending the meeting and not as an absence.
Voluntary overtime (MS) and voluntary time trades (TTW outside of annual leave) are not excused reasons for absence from meetings. Each Officer is expected to manage their personal staffing schedule accordingly and plan for attendance at the regularly scheduled General Meetings.
If the Officer has a personal situation (illness, family need, family event, etc) that prevents them from attending a General Meeting, they may appeal their absence to be excused from that General Meeting to the President in writing no later than the call to order of the regular meeting (Executive Board or General) following their absence. If the excusal of the absence is granted, the President will report the attendance excusal to the Board at the meeting (Executive Board or General) following the absence of the Officer.
Any Office vacated under this section shall be filled in accordance with Article IV Section 8 Succession.
